    Re: invention

    2010 - 11.02

“Invention is a creative process. An open and curious mind enables one to see beyond what is known. Seeing a new possibility, a new connection or relationship can spark an invention. Inventive thinking frequently involves combining concepts or elements from different realms that would not normally be put together. Sometimes inventors skip over the boundaries between distinctly separate territories or fields. Ways of thinking, materials, processes or tools from one realm are used as no one else has imagined in a different realm.” ~ Wikipedia

I wanted to open with invention, because I am attending The Reinvention Summit; a virtual conference on storytelling.  My new friend Michael Margolis has been working his ass off to make this happen and I am proud to support his efforts. I also look forward to watching and hearing all the great presentations.

    idea wave!

    2010 - 05.24

I just applied to this cool conference in Victoria called Idea Wave.  It’s on July 10-11, 2010.  Here is my application to speak for 10 minutes about the QuestionCollector.  By the way, I’ve been trying to think of a better name for the product.  Maybe PeaceQuest? (the domain is for sale, but I can’t afford it yet.)  Would love to hear your ideas for a name.

    Title:
A value centered social game for questioning everything.

    Talk Abstract:
A text-based social game for online debate.  We want your questions, the ones that burn
in your identity.  The ones that move you to action.  The ones that make you burst into
laughter.  We want you to gather with people and organizations of similar values and form
questioning communities.  We want to serve your debates, and opinions in a fun and
neutral sandbox where you control your identity.  Most of all, we want you to feel
empowered to share your vision. (more…)

    2009 - 11.20

I went to the Island Tech Conference on Friday Nov 13th.  I got up early, to go to the morning VIP keynote address, given by Will Harbin.  I missed the bus and didn’t want to be late, so I walked fast.  It was nice out.  Everything was freshly washed by a heavy rain.  The sun was beaming down warmly and the wind hadn’t picked up, like it did later in the afternoon.   The walk got my blood going.  I ended up being early for the speeches, because the 8am start was actually for a meet and greet with time to take in the Empress’ continental breakfast.  I scanned the site for water and found only hot.  I passed into the ballroom proper and got a nice empty table closer to the front.  Water was in a pitcher at the center.
