Got Values? on Prezi
Current presentation of what I’m doing. It still sucks, but I want to take a break from presentations and start coding. Thus this iteration gets pushed out the door, unpolished just like the rest.
Help me make it to round three!
May 3rd
May 10 is the deadline for my submission to qualify for round three of the New Ventures BC 2010 contest. I’m writing this post to detail my current draft plans and get feedback from you. Is it clear? Did I answer the questions? What else should I consider? I would love your harshest criticisms and any encouraging comments you can spare. Thanks for reading!!!
progress happens
Apr 18th
It has been a long two weeks. Here is a summary of what has been happening for me:
1) I got my first business card printed. My moms think it’s super, except the text is a bit tiny for their eyes.
2) I joined a Single Founders Mastermind community started by Taweed at his community site, Braintrust.io. It’s been helpful to have somewhere to share thoughts that is more focused than my blog. In fact it’s helping me revamp my blog to be more focused too, or at least I hope so. More >
Help me!
Mar 25th
I would appreciate any feedback on this presentation. Is it clear? What do you like? What do you dislike? What do you think is missing? What am I doing wrong? Yes I am doing lots wrong, but need your help identifying my additional weaknesses. Do you think this could work? Would you want to play?

seminars and pitch update
Mar 4th
Over the last two days I attended two seminars at the local technology park. One was on product positioning and marketing and the other was on intellectual property and business structure. Both were useful and it was good to get out and meet some local entrepreneurs. Thanks to Gowlings and VIATec for hosting!
Here is our current positioning statement:
The QuestionCollector is a sociopolitical game of debate, for Internet users who want to create peace with words instead of weapons. It provides a fun and neutral architecture for questioning everything. Unlike current social games the QuestionCollector is fun AND useful to your world.
Read on for the draft text of my media pitch and let me know what you think of it or my positioning statement.
GAIA Seeks Advisers
Nov 27th
The following are a few questions I would expect a prospective adviser would want to know the answers to. If you have additional questions, please send me a note or leave a comment.
What is GAIA?
GAIA is an acronym for the name of my company: Golden Age Information Architects. It is my personal brand. I have a logo in the works and our first product, brand pending, is in design dock. It is waiting for me to recruit the correct group of assistance. Then I will begin full scale development. I’ve begun to publicize my vision and am currently enjoying the hard work of drafting my business model, estimating initial costs, and learning how to write succinctly. I should probably get someone to do more of this stuff for me. Then I could spend more time building my designs. I can not wait to sit down with my first team of developers, in our first office.
Top Secret Product: pitch for peace
Nov 22nd
This is an updated version of a speech I gave on Dec 2, 2009 at Victoria Beaver Toastmasters. The scene is a cocktail party. I’ve started talking with a group of people and then the inevitable question comes up:
“So what do you do Scott?”
I’m an entrepreneur.
“Oh really, well what are you working on?”
It’s an advanced online forum for citizens to engage in political debate and network worldwide. Think of it as a personal soapbox, but with a focus on empowering people.
Tech conference, etc

1) I got an interesting email response today from the CEO of Answers.com in response to a question I sent to their website weeks ago. I was impressed that my impetuous email actually landed on his screen, let alone that he responded. I remember sending messages direct to the CEO at CGI, where I was working, and getting no response. I want to say thanks to Bob for taking the time to get back to me and I hope I can be as attentive to my future customers, employees, and investors as he demonstrated today.
the domain name
Nov 7th
This is my first domain name. It came about from a ridiculously bad acronym that I forced to fit GAIA, which I really like for some reason. It was a terrible mouthful, and to tell you the truth, big time crapola. I’ve since done some work and it has created something I both understand and matches my drift better. Of course, typing ‘G dash A dash I dash A.org’ is still a pain in the right pinky, but who really types things in anymore when it’s all about linking. Logo and business cards are in progress.
is this the beginning?
Nov 2nd
Of a blog, yes. But of the story no.
Ideas have been sprouting in my head for years. I started to pay attention when they began to click together like puzzle pieces. Since then database designs have formed. Marketing plans have formed. Artistic branding requirements are forming. I’ve never been so excited in my life. I’ve enlisted a friend to help me build the prototype. Now I’m working on naming, branding, and figuring out the best timing for me to incorporate, so that I don’t violate the terms for collecting employment insurance and I maximize the tax advantages.
